Third-party software and data sources.
This page covers the third-party work behind the TidyWallet app, this website, and the public data services both rely on. Each entry names the licence or terms it is used under.
This website
Inter Tight
The typeface used throughout this site. Copyright © 2020 The Inter Project Authors, created by Rasmus Andersson. Used under the SIL Open Font License, Version 1.1.
The font is served from this domain rather than a font CDN. Its licence travels with it: the notice bundled with the font file, and the full OFL text.
Lucide
The interface icons on this site and in the app come from Lucide, used under the ISC License. In the app they are generated into source rather than pulled in as a library, so only the icons actually drawn are included.
Everything else
There is none. The site is hand-written HTML and CSS with no framework, no JavaScript library, no analytics package and no embedded third-party media. The only script on the site is a few lines that highlight the current section in the navigation, written for this site.
Data sources
TidyWallet converts between currencies and values holdings using public market data. The app requests only reference data — no part of your ledger is sent to these services. Each is used under its own terms.
Frankfurter
Foreign exchange reference rates, published from European Central Bank data. See frankfurter.dev.
CoinGecko
Cryptocurrency price data, provided by CoinGecko and used with attribution under their API terms. The app uses the public tier, which needs no key; supplying one of your own raises the rate limit.
gold-api.com
Metal prices, from gold-api.com, which needs no key and dates each quote itself. This is the default source for metals.
metals.dev
metals.dev is used in preference to the above if you have supplied a key of your own. Where no price is available from either, the app reports the holding as not valued rather than substituting a figure.
Exchange rates and prices are supplied by these services as-is. They are reference data for your own record-keeping, not financial advice, and TidyWallet makes no warranty about their accuracy or timeliness.
The Android app
TidyWallet is built on open-source libraries. Those bundled into the app are listed here; each is used under its own licence, and the licence text travels with the library in the published build.
Apache License 2.0
The Android and Jetpack libraries the app is built with, published by Google and the Android Open Source Project: AndroidX Core, Lifecycle, Activity, Biometric, Navigation, DataStore, WorkManager, Room, DocumentFile, Jetpack Compose and Material 3, together with Google Play services Auth, used for the Drive authorisation behind cloud backup.
Also under Apache 2.0: the Kotlin standard library, coroutines and kotlinx.serialization from JetBrains; Ktor and OkHttp, which make the rate and price requests; and Koin.
ISC License
Lucide, the icon set the interface draws, as described above.
SIL Open Font License 1.1
Inter Tight, the same typeface as this site, bundled into the app so its figures and headings look alike on every phone. Copyright © 2020 The Inter Project Authors. Its notice travels with it, inside the font file and as a text file beside it in the app.
Android Software Development Kit License
The Google Play Billing Library, through which the paid plan is bought and its renewals are handled, published by Google under the Android Software Development Kit License.
The app adds no analytics, crash-reporting or advertising library of its own. The Play Billing Library brings Google's own diagnostics with it, which report on the library's operation to Google; the privacy policy says what they carry.
